We have found a dramatic difference in the temperature of out house just in the last few days since the men have been working. I know last night was a very comfortable night. Your men had been working with caulk and sealant all day and there was a smell in the house. We decided to open the windows and go out to dinner. When we returned, the temperature had dropped to 53 degrees in our house; historically it takes several hours to reheat the place. We left again for 2 hours and upon return the temperature was up to 65 degrees. This was a phenomenal accomplishment.

On another note, your employees were courteous and refrained from using foul language which I value highly, particularly with 2 small children and my wife within earshot much of the time.

Finally, the men cleaned up at the end of each days work and one even offered to run the vacuum cleaner.

We would like to take this opportunity to commend some of your staff for the
tremendous work they performed on our home allowing us to participate in the
energy star program. My initial phone call to Tina was very informative. She spend the time explaining to me the basic of the program, the various financing options, the overall benefits of the Energy Star and set up audit. The Auditors was here right when he said he would be, and checked EVERYTHING, many things I hadn't even consider a potential problem. He answered all of our questions, qualified us and set up a time, much to our liking that was even sooner than expected to begin the work. The crews were here on March 1st & 2nd and obviously enjoyed their job they wee working pretty much non-stop for the entire time. They interacted extremely well as a team, commuting with each other all the way through the process, very proficient and very PROFESSIONAL. Any questions I had were answered promptly and accurately. Tony returned to do the follow-up audit later in the day, and determined all was well. I'm looking forward to being able to recommend your company to friends and co-workers. We wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying our newly insulated and improved home. Your workers were professional and courteous, and the work that was done has exceeded our expectations.

Before this work was done, our 1927 home was cold and drafty with many cold spots- in fact, we called one of our bathrooms "the outhouse" because it was so cold. In spite of very high heating bills, it was still not warm. But after having Hughesco analyzes our home, we found out why. Old, inadequate or total lack of insulation in the walls/roof, air leakage between the basement and main frame of the house, leakage from the furnace ducts in the basement that allowed the basement to be the warmest area in the house and prevented heat from going where it should be...Hughesco was able to seal up our many areas of heat loss (who wants to heat the outside?). We not only noticed an immediate difference in our comfort level, but we are looking forward to lowered heat bills as well. In fact, we will save more that the cost of the payment.

We also changed our light bulbs to the 10 yr. energy efficient bulbs. They will pay for themselves in 7 months. It will be nice not to have to change light bulbs so often and save on our electric bills. We also had Hughesco install 7 large windows that were inoperable. We were impressed with the lifetime warranty on everything and the quality look of the windows.

This is the best thing that we have ever done to improve "this old house". The Energy Star program is a very thorough program that looks at all the aspects of energy efficiency, from heating, lighting, insulation, and appliances. We received a through evaluation and written report of the "before" and "after" results which helped us see the areas that needed to be corrected, and exactly what the results would be. We would recommend Hughesco 100% for their informative and professional handling of our home improvements.

I wish express my gratitude for the energy star work your company performed on my home. Although I have never written a formal letter of appreciation to an organization in the past. I felt that the entire experience in dealing with Hughesco from induction through follow-up was truly exceptional.

Specially, I wish to commend all employees I came in contact with throughout the process. I found them to be both personable and professional. They were all well trained and took the time to explain each step in the progress, as well as provide me with quite a bit of technical knowledge.

As far as results of the work performed, I can honestly say I am truly amazed by both the comfort and the cost savings I have experienced. When the job was finished I immediately noticed a reduction in the number of times the furnace kicked on and the length of time it actuality ran. My den used to be so cold that I had to run a portable heater to keep it warm enough to relax in, but by eliminating the drafts and increasing the insulation, it is so much warmer that I no longer need to run it.

To whom it may concern,

I, Gaylord G. Kunkel, am sending this letter to inform you of the current work performed by Hughesco at my home. At the time the representative, Michael Plyter, made his initials audit/evaluation, he informed my wife and I of the work that would benefit our energy saving costs. He in no way pressured us to purchase any materials or services that we did not want performed. Quite the contrary, he encouraged us to just obtain what we felt comfortable with spending, not putting ourselves over our heads in debt. I was rather insistent with Michael that my wife and I needed an air-conditioning unit. The one we presently owned was around 20 years-old and continuously ran during the hot summer months. Our big concern was energy costs with this. Also, my wife is totally disabled with Lupus and is considerably affected by the summer heat.
Upon his next visit to our home Michael presented us with the estimate. He explained that the total cost of the work would total $10,000. This would include the furnace, door, 5 windows, blown-in insulation in the attic and several added performances that would benefit our energy costs. He also explained that New York State would not cover the cost of central air conditioning as it is considered more a luxury that a necessity. But, in my wife's case I did not feel this to be true. Michael startled us with his next comment. He explained that the owner of the company, Mr. Hughes, is GIVING us the air conditioning unit as a promotion for his business. Who in this world would do something like this nowadays? He said we would be receiving $12,000 worth of work for $5,000. My wife and I felt like it was Christmas and all holidays rolled into one, in June. This was too good to be true!
My wife and I paid not one out of pocket cent for any services/materials that were performed by Hughesco. This company is extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous, friendly and non-pressuring. I could go on and on finding descriptive words praising this company. From Michael to the office staff to the contractors...I have not one complaint. For one time in my life, I felt extremely comfortable with construction done in my home. There are so many horror stories about contractors messing up and not showing up. This did not occur...not one time. My family and I are so pleased with what they have done and so proud to show off the fruit of their labor. They worked extremely hard!
My wife and I consider Hughesco to be God-sent. Not only have we made new acquaintances we felt we have made new friends. I have sung their praises to everyone I know and have referred several customers to them already. I am so impressed with all the staff at Hughesco and admire their honesty. Without them we could not have obtained the renovations/necessities that we received due to our financial situation. They made our dreams come true. On behalf of my wife, daughter, son and myself we sincerely thank Hughesco from the bottom of our hearts!

Dear HUGHESCO:

I am SO glad I noticed your ad in the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper last fall and gave you a call. My husband and I have wanted replacement windows since we bought out house 20 years ago. Our house was drafty and because of the house settling, some of the windows were even cracked. We also had a lot of moisture damage because of air leaks between the windows and storm windows. Quite a mess. We were also aware that our attic was poorly insulated due to the ice dams that built up on winter days.

You were very accommodating in scheduling an introductory appointment where you did an Energy Star audit; finding where our house was losing heat, explaining the Energy Star program, and giving me all the information and application needed to receive our windows, attic insulation and other energy saving measures at half the normal cost due to our middle-to-low income level.

The application was not difficult-painless really. Qualifying for income-eligible subsidy was a relatively quick process. The income guidelines were actually quite generous. Your company was also accommodating in that I preferred to wait until spring to have the work done. No pressure tactics.

When your crew came, they were punctual, courteous, pleasant and above all, professional. They answered any questions I had and they were gracious about working around small children in the house while they were replacing windows. They left their worksite spotless each day and their work was top-notch. The windows are of high quality and airtight. Along with the weatherproofing and attic insulation that was installed, I look forward to a warm and cozy home for years to come at less energy costs than we were previously paying.

Your follow-up check on the work was a nice surprise too. I had not asked about the guarantee on the windows. "Lifetime replacement or repair on anything for as long as we own the house"?!! For any reason?!! You can't beat that!!! Even my always-skeptical husband is impressed and 110% satisfied!! WOW!

In twenty years of home ownership, I have had a few bad experiences and poor workmanship by other contractors. Which is why I feel so strongly that I should write a great outfit like yours and let you know that your fine work was appreciated. I understand you are attempting to branch out into the Rochester area and I wish you all the best of luck. You deserve it and please feel free to give this letter of recommendation to anyone that is considering HUGHESCO.
